Converting Gay traffic to a 4Women site :: Traffic. *sigh* Its the most valuable commodity on the Internet. Period. I get a warm shiver whenever I think about big chunks of flowing glorious yummy traffic. To be in control of high volumes of traffic or smaller volumes of targeted traffic is the goal of nearly every Internet professional. However, having the traffic is only the first step - knowing and understanding what to do with it is the next.

The premise of this article is understanding your traffic and understanding that each 'block' of traffic is made up of a number of different niches, no matter how well previously filtered. Each block of traffic is made up of the following groups of people:

• those who are not sure what they are looking for until it is presented to them

• those who are looking for a very specific product or search term

• those with specific interests of pleasures simply moving through console/link list flows (pissing, shemen, midgets, bondage, underwater midget clown masturbation sex ... etcetera)

• specific types of people (straight men, gay men, straight women, lesbian women, bisexual men and women etcetera...)

Depending on how well your traffic is previously filtered, you will have different percentages of the above groups. For example if you have a free pissing site listed in the search engines under pissing terms, you will have the majority of your traffic looking for pissing, some will be looking for contenance pads and a few will be curious or grossed out, clicking for a peek.

Unfortunately, not all groups are as easily defined as the list above. This brings us to our article topic: Marketing your gay traffic to a 4women audience. The following is broken into 3 parts.

• Finding the females in your existing gay traffic
• Marketing a 4women site to a gay audience
• Building a free site that appeals to both gay men and straight women

FINDING THE FEMALES IN YOUR EXISTING GAY TRAFFIC
If you we're a lady, looking for a naked man, you would search for 'naked men'. A quick check at any search engine and you will notice the top 387 or so sites are for gay men. (I got bored after 387 ... its definately more)
This lady may now realize the results are not what she is looking for and try another search. She tries the same search for 'straight men'. Nearly all the search results of an adult nature are for gay sites, featuring the straight men niche.

How is the lady to find a place where she is catered to if all of the engines are saturated with gay terms? Those ladies who are 'trapped' in blocks of gay traffic are not being utilized to their maximum potential. Women buy porn. I know this to be fact. Women are so relieved when they find porn for themselves that they convert in record numbers. I know this to be fact. Women develop a loyalty to a quality site that provides a retention similar to the gay market. I know this to be fact.

The question still remains, how do you find the women in your blocks of gay traffic, and how do you ensure you are making the highest possible income for each female surfer, without losing any of your surfers who ARE looking for gay content?

The answer is a simple one. You do this exactly the same way you filter all of your other traffic, using methods like exit consoles, text links, link lists etc.

1) If you own a paysite: On your exit console, place a simple text link with your other text links which says something along the lines of 'Ladies, looking for something made specially for you? Click here for erotica for women'. Mention that you understand they may be lost and that you can help them find their way.

2) If you own a free site: If you have a nav bar or a series of sponsors, try the same text link as above. You will attract the ladies as soon as they realize the site is not what they intended to arrive at. Again, mention that you understand they may be lost.

3) If you own a link list or directory: Yes, you guessed it. A text link mentioning that you understand they may be lost. :-)

Another very simple way to do this is by creating a front warning page, or adding this to your already existing page. 2 buttons .... one that says 'women, enter here' - another that says 'men, enter here'. The Women page will go to a full page ad or some free pics for the 4Women sponsor, and the other to your conventional site for gay men. You don't lose any (or much) of your traffic but will be providing those women with a place they actually want to be, rather than a sponsor they will settle on for a short period of time.

If you don't have a site that suits this format, adapt it in another way so that your dividing your traffic between women and men. Do this any way you can and you'll increase the quality of your traffic dramatically.
There are only a few basic points to remember when you are doing the above:

a) Be personal to the women, mention 'ladies' or 'women' in the link so you are personally inviting them to visit a site.

b) Don't assume all women are 'lost' as I've stated above. Do not assume they would be better off somewhere else as they may very well enjoy being there. Simply offer your suggestion that there are other sites available.

c) If you are providing a 4women section in a directory or link list, explain why you are doing so to ensure you do not overtake your gay listings with 4women ones. Make a complete section and use the same text link style as suggested above to explain your actions. Preface the category with an explanation or an introduction to the 4women market.

MARKETING A 4WOMEN SITE TO A GAY AUDIENCE
We know that 'straight men' is a niche within the gay market. The same way lesbian women are marketed to straight men and straight women dream of converting their gay pals - we all have fantasies of turning the sexual preferences of those who appeal to us. Curiosity, a possibility of 'converting them' and the challenge of bedding someone out of reach are all part of the appeal. (hell, brad pitt is still on my list of goals, even since jennifer ... as is angelina jollie)

As with all markets, the 'straight men' market got a little old when hundreds of sites popped up and by the end of the tour the 'straight man' (ahem) had a cock in his mouth and a 14 inch black dildo up his ass.

Along came 4women. :-) Good looking guys, selected and presented so as to appear as straight as possible. Therefore the 4women market has almost become another gay market niche. Gay men make up 20-40% of traffic and sign ups to 4women sites (most especially the 'beefcake', 'naked men' style of sites).

Providing a link to a 4women site on a gay site will not decrease your sales, in fact it provides just another fresh niche - and we know that fresh niches of any type bring high conversions and a good average retention.
Following are some tips and suggestions to help you in promoting a 4women site to your gay audience.

1. A look at the tour of a site like Purve <http://www.purve.com> will give you plenty of idea on the kind of content contained within that would be appealing to a gay man. Many of the common gay man/straight woman fantasies are addressed within the site (men in uniform, black, big dick, hairy, mature, teen etc) so to begin with, a simple feature describing this would convert extremely well. A half or full page add, with text descriptions, a few sample pics and list of content will not only entice gay traffic, but by adding a 'straight man' description to it, will spark enough interest to convert the surfer immediately. You won't waste disinterested traffic and can continue to promote your other sponsors to them.

2. The appeal of being a 'voyeur' or 'not allowed' to be somewhere is a big turn on for many people. I've found that by saying 'women only', 'men, do not enter', 'secret womens business', 'straight guys for women only', etc is just asking for everyone but women to want to enter!! By providing something as a forbidden product, that's it!! Sold!! This is only an appeal to a portion of the audience so be sure to only use this form of banner or ad along with your other regular sponsors and conventional forms of advertising.

3. If you run a gay paysite, there is no reason you can't do the same with your traffic. You'll not only be giving an extra niche option to your exit traffic, you'll also divide your women from your men and be sure to get the full value out of each and every surfer. Rather than signing up a woman and losing her to someone else, at least get paid for finding her in the first place. Place banners in your paysite members section 'if your not looking for this, go here'. Put a text link on your tour that says 'women, go here' and send it to Purve.com! Or an exit console with a few different sites and add the 4women sites amongst these. Let your women know you have other options for them and give your gay men another niche apart from the hardcore gay they have been looking at.

BUILDING A FREE SITE THAT APPEALS TO BOTH GAY MEN AND STRAIGHT WOMEN

Let's be honest, some of the men posing on the content cd's for gay sites are no more 'gay' than the lipstick lesbians in 'for straight males' content. Where mass produced content is concerned, the models are actors. It is none of our business what the sexuality of the model is anyway, the content is provided for us to create a fantasy for a surfer. Young teen 'katie' who enjoys swallowing cum and bringing her man his slippers & beer is, believe it or not, MADE UP!! (sorry guys...) Whether your target is a straight woman, a gay man, a bisexual man or woman, a gay woman or a rubber duck, the fantasy is in the presentation. This is completely in your control.

Obviously, pictures of puckered buttholes with a 12 inch vibrator rammed up there are not going to appeal to a female surfer (well, not all of 'em...) and are definately meant to represent a gay 'fantasy' or 'action'. However, if you look at many content cd's, take ounique.com or sexinc.com for example, some of the guys on there 'look gay' (go on, slap me for the stereotype). By this, I mean that the look is not going to be very well presented to a straight woman ... but most of these picture sets are just really buff looking guys with very big .. ahem .. cocks. (sheesh content providers, where do you find these guys and do you share??!!) When sorting a content set for a 4women gallery or section, take out the pics of them bending over a leather studded bar scene with the YMCA being performed in the background and there ya have it! A fantasy set that can be presented as 'straight' men for women.

Hell, you can forget even that. Just market it as a 'man'. Let the audience make up their own mind whether the man is straight or gay. Just put the naked man on a page with a 4women sponsor and a gay sponsor and let the traffic divide itself. Buy a cd, divide the content into 2 sections ... 'gay looking' and 'just a naked man'. You are now fully equiped to build a site that is aimed at both gay men and straight women, without having to change many of your already existing marketing ideas.

------------

I'm sure many of the points presented here seem quite obvious, but by actually testing these and putting them into action, you will get a true indication of the partnership between the two markets. I've spent most of my time in this industry testing the above theories, only to come up with the blatantly obvious - TARGET AND DIVIDE!! It really is that easy. Use the knowledge you have learnt in the division of all of your traffic and provide this as yet another niche and your profits can only grow.

Although the above article was written with 2 specific markets in mind, many of the points I have made can be adapted to absolutely any markets or niche. Remember, just because you intended all your traffic to be pissing traffic, doesn't mean it is. This is a numbers game and therefore works on hit and miss. Always provide a few different options for the 'oops where am i' crowd and you increase your chances of a sale.

Rather than always looking at conversions as 1/100 and feeling that you have succeeded, look at the 99 people who didn't buy anything and ask yourself how you could've made a sale from them. Utilize all sponsors and products out there - test your traffic and see what it is capable of doing for you. By giving it more avenues to perform, you will learn more and earn more!
